When listening to Blake (violin) and Giordano (guitar), one feels that they are aware of the great legacy of guitar/violin duos of the past - Stephane Grappeli & Django Reinhardt, Joe Venuti & Eddie Lang - but they are not bound by that legacy. In perfomance, their interactions take them away from the expected as they explore new roles: the guitar suddenly becomes a bass, the violin takes on the color of an entire string section. Unselfishly turned to the dynamic of the duo, they draw from one another echoes of classical music, Brazilian rhythms, straight-ahead bebop and dark blues.
